We were excited to announce we have a new doctor in the building. Mrs. Hottelman completed her doctoral work and defended her dissertation this week. We know what hard work goes into receiving a doctoral degree. When you see her out and about, please take a moment to congratulate Dr. Hottelman! #ItsAGreatDayToBeAMustang

Saturday is National SRO Day. Please take some time today to thank Officer Pollard for his service with the O'Fallon Police Dept., and his work here at SMS. It is a comfort to have someone of his experience within the walls of our building each week. Officer Pollard, thank you for being a part of our Mustang Community and keeping us safe and educated!

It's been a busy month as we wrapped up elementary school visits at Emge last week. The students were great and the performing Fine Arts department had the students engaged while thinking about their elective for sixth grade. Can't wait to see rising 6th graders and their parents at our Preview Night on Thursday, March 6, 2025. #ItsAGreatDayToBeAMustang

Due to the forecast weather conditions and travel advisories, Wednesday, 2/2/2025 will be an AMI day. Grades 6 - 12 should log in to Canvas. Pre-K - 5 should complete AMI packet No. 4. Remember, AMI Days do not have to be made up. More at go.FZSD.us/AMIDays.

The Running Club, led by sponsor Mrs. Young, did a TRASH RUN! They did an amazing job beautifying SMS and the surrounding community! #ItsAGreatDayToBeAMustang

If it seems that you've been hearing that a lot of your student's friends have been sick, you're not alone. Our team of school nurses has noticed it, too, and shares a few key reminders to help you and your student(s) stay healthy as we all look toward the end of cold and flu season.
1. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using the restroom and before eating.
2. When you need to cough or sneeze, do so into a tissue or your elbow
3. Stay home/keep your student home when feeling sick
Our nurses are so thankful to have you on their team as they work to keep our students and our schools healthy. Remember, you can find the graphic below any time on our website under Clinics, Health and Wellness.

Shout out to Mrs. Sanders for being recognized in today's #FZjoy Monday spotlight! Mrs. Sanders teaches 7th grade science and is the sponsor for Science Bowl and TSA. #ItsAGreatDayToBeAMustang #FZjoy #EquiptoExcel
